Evidence of My Commitment
to Excellence
I completed my student teaching, bachelor's degree and state licensure in 14 months while working full-time as an Educational Aide in a Special Needs classroom. My PRAXIS results show that I scored above the state average in Reading, Writing and Math content knowledge. I have been recognized with WGU’s Excellence Award for exemplary work.
There is also evidence of my participation in professional development courses, such as my education experience in Sustainable Forestry for Educators. I have also included descriptions of my volunteer work in the community, as I believe volunteer work helps me be a better working professional.

My Goals in
Excellence Preparation
Once high standards have been set, I ensure that all students know how to meet them. I keep a bank of excellent work as a model, annotated to explain the criteria it meets. I use live modeling, where I answer a question and explain my thought process in front of the class, to produce work as a class developed through carefully planned questioning.
There is an expectation that work isn’t finished until it is excellent, that proof-reading and redrafting should be the norm, and that students will do this before handing in work. I encourage pupils to embrace their education and be willing to apply their learning beyond the classroom.

My Lesson Plans
I believe that effective lesson plans must include the state standard and an objective defined by a clear condition, behavior and criterion. Lessons should include necessary materials, connections to prior learning, a variety of instructional methods, student-driven practice, closing review activities, and demonstration of learning. With each lesson, I take notes to reflect on for future instructional planning.

My References and Letters of Recommendation
I believe that collaboration is a key component of effective teaching. I pride myself in having positive and productive relationships with students, colleagues and supervisors. I can provide letters of recommendation from my colleagues and superiors that were kind enough to take the time to recommend me for teaching positions.
